"A Space for All Voices"
Around 80 million people worldwide have a stutter. To put it shortly, a stutter is simply a different way of speaking and thinking (both socilally and biologically), that can have a pretty big impact on your daily life. From ordering at a drive-thru to speaking up in class , a stutter influences every aspect of communication. Sometimes it even refrains you from talking at all, since you do not want to embarrass yourself. Having a stutter can be hard, and the lack of a cure can cause individuals to feel frustrated.
Luckily, you can choose your outlook on stuttering. Instead of seeing it as a limitation, you can see it as a difference—one that builds resilience, empathy, and creativity. This site is here to share that perspective. Whether you're someone who stutters, a parent, a friend, or just curious, you can join our support groups or engage in cutting edge research to bash the stigma!
Activities and Opportunities
Looking to make new friends? Need a support group to talk to about your stuttering? Need a place to practice for that upcoming presentation? Join me and fellow stutterers in the virtual workshops, where we all come together to share experiences, build confidence, and support each other in a safe and judgment-free space. Whether you’re preparing for a big moment or just want to connect with others who understand, our community is here to help you grow — one conversation at a time.
In each session, we’ll exchange techniques and strategies that help us manage our stuttering, while also offering each other genuine support through challenges and victories alike. Whether you need a partner to rehearse a presentation, work through a tough moment, or just talk, we’ll be there — every step of the way. Our goal is to build a community where you feel understood, empowered, and ready to face the world with confidence.
Join us — because when you have the right people behind you, nothing can hold your voice back.
Interested in gaining valuable experience in research methodology analysis and scientific paper composition, all while expanding your knowledge on the in's and out's of stuttering? Join the StutterSense Research Group (SSRG)! Within the SSRG, students will explore the genetics and biomechanics of stuttering, while comparing and contrasting the effectiveness and ethics of medical solutions (ranging from drugs, to technology, to speech therapy). Students will be exposed to both PRISMA and MOOSE methodologies of meta analysis, and will be guided on how to make their own meta-analyses. Exceptional pieces of student work will even be published on the StutterSense website, and may even be sent out for publication in offical open access databases!
Meetings will be conducted weekly, and students will work with the guidance of Rishit Bhat, a current neuroscience research assistant at the Bickart Lab at UCLA.
